Shopify studio for the Nordics

Shopify agency for brands in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland

We work remotely with Nordic brands on Shopify stores that treat Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland as four markets, with the right wallet, currency and rules for each.

Short answerThe Silver Arc is a remote-first Shopify studio that works with brands in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. We set up each country as its own market: Swish, MobilePay or Vipps plus Klarna at checkout, local currency and VAT, Norway's VOEC and customs rules, and returns pages that match each country's consumer law.

Four markets, not one "Nordics"

Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland are often grouped together, but they use four languages, three currencies plus the euro, different mobile wallets and, in Norway's case, a customs border. A Nordic Shopify setup works best as one store with four Shopify Markets, each with its own currency, tax, payments and copy.

Which payment methods do Nordic shoppers expect?

Cards and Klarna everywhere, plus the national wallet. Shopify Payments is available to merchants in all four countries, and Klarna works through it for customers in Sweden (SEK), Denmark (DKK), Norway (NOK) and Finland (EUR).

  • Swish (Sweden): only for stores based in Sweden, with customers paying in SEK. On mobile, shoppers approve in the Swish or BankID app; on desktop they scan a QR code. There are no chargebacks on Swish orders.
  • MobilePay (Denmark and Finland): your Shopify Payments account can be in any of 28 European countries, customers must have a Danish or Finnish address, and Shopify bills it at DKK 49 a month. Only full captures are allowed.
  • Vipps (Norway): not a Shopify Payments method. Norwegian stores add it through the Vipps MobilePay app from the Shopify App Store, which runs alongside Shopify Payments; approval can take several working days, so start early.
  • Finnish online banking: many Finnish shoppers pay through their bank. Providers such as Paytrail offer a Shopify app for this.

Our take: a Swedish brand that cannot offer Swish, or a Norwegian one without Vipps, is leaving its easiest conversions on the table.

Consumer rules that differ across the Nordics

All four give consumers 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Since June 19, 2026, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, as EU members, also require a clearly visible online withdrawal function with a confirmation step and an automatic email acknowledgment. Norway sits outside the EU, so check with Norwegian counsel whether and when the same rule applies there.

Defect rules differ more. Sweden gives consumers three years to complain about faulty goods, with defects in the first two years presumed to have existed at delivery. Norway's Consumer Purchases Act allows two years, or five for goods meant to last considerably longer, such as a TV. Finland sets no fixed limit: liability follows the product's expected service life. Your returns and warranty pages should be written per market, not translated from one master.

The European Accessibility Act has applied in the EU since June 28, 2025; see our EAA guide.

Norway: VAT, VOEC and customs

Every parcel from the EU to Norway crosses a customs border. Foreign sellers of low-value goods to Norwegian consumers must register in the VOEC scheme at the latest once their sales reach NOK 50,000 in a 12-month period, and then charge Norwegian VAT at checkout.

VOEC only covers items worth less than NOK 3,000 each, excluding shipping. More expensive items fall outside the scheme and are handled as ordinary imports, with VAT and clearance at the border. For brands selling furniture, outerwear or electronics, we set up Norway so shoppers see clearly what they will pay and when.

VAT within the EU Nordics

Sweden and Denmark charge 25% VAT and Finland 25.5%. A brand in one EU country selling to consumers in another charges the customer's VAT once its total EU cross-border B2C sales pass €10,000 a year, declared through the One Stop Shop. See our Shopify Markets guide for the setup.

Shipping and marketplaces

Parcel lockers and pickup points are the norm. PostNord covers Sweden and Denmark, Posten Bring covers Norway and Posti covers Finland, with Budbee, Instabox and DAO competing on lockers and home delivery. Let shoppers pick a pickup point at checkout.

Local marketplaces include CDON and Tradera in Sweden, Finn.no in Norway, DBA in Denmark and Tori in Finland. Your own store wins on brand, bundles and loyalty.

How we work with Nordic brands

We work remotely with brands in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki, Gothenburg and Aarhus. We work asynchronously in English by email and Basecamp and schedule calls within your working hours; Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish copy comes from your team or translators, and Shopify gives each language its own URLs.

Our process: discovery call, written proposal, design questionnaire, first design in under a week, up to three revision rounds, development and launch. Everything is set up in your own accounts.

Frequently asked questions

Can a non-Swedish Shopify store accept Swish?

No, not through Shopify Payments. Shopify requires the store to be based in Sweden, use Shopify Payments for Sweden and accept SEK, and customers must be in Sweden paying in SEK.

Does Shopify support Vipps in Norway?

Not as a Shopify Payments local method. Norwegian stores add Vipps through the Vipps MobilePay app in the Shopify App Store, which runs alongside Shopify Payments. Approval by Vipps MobilePay can take several working days.

What is VOEC and does my Shopify store need it?

VOEC is Norway's simplified VAT scheme for foreign sellers of low-value goods to Norwegian consumers. Registration is required once sales reach NOK 50,000 in 12 months, and it only covers items under NOK 3,000 each. Higher-value items are imported normally, with VAT at the border.

How much does MobilePay cost on Shopify?

Shopify charges DKK 49 a month for MobilePay, shown on your Shopify bill, on top of transaction fees. It is available for customers with an address in Denmark or Finland, and your store must accept DKK, EUR, NOK or SEK.

Do you have an office in Scandinavia?

No. We're a remote studio, so there's no local office; we work with Nordic brands remotely by email and Basecamp and schedule calls within your working hours.
