Shopify studio for Spain
Shopify agency for brands in Spain
We are a remote-first Shopify design and development studio building stores for brands in Barcelona, Madrid and across Spain, in Spanish, Catalan or English.
What do Spanish shoppers expect from a Shopify store?
Spanish shoppers expect prices with IVA included, delivery costs shown before checkout, and a way to pay that feels local, which increasingly means Bizum. Your store is also measured against Amazon.es delivery promises, so clear shipping times matter as much as design.
Spain has a strong marketplace habit: Amazon.es, El Corte Inglés and Miravia for new goods, Wallapop for second-hand. A brand store wins when it offers what marketplaces cannot: full product stories, bundles, loyalty, and a returns process that does not feel like a fight.
Language is not just Spanish. If you sell in Catalonia, a Catalan version can be a real trust signal, and Shopify lets each published language have its own URLs (for example /ca/), which also helps search visibility. Basic, Grow and Advanced plans can publish up to 20 languages.
Which payment methods should a Spanish Shopify store offer?
Start with cards, Apple Pay and Shop Pay through Shopify Payments, which is available to merchants based in Spain, then add Bizum, PayPal and a pay-later option.
| Method | Through Shopify Payments? | Conditions worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Visa, Mastercard, Amex | Yes | Activated by default once Shopify Payments is set up |
| Bizum | Yes, early access | Customers in Spain paying in EUR; orders from €0.50 to €5,000; not for subscriptions |
| Klarna | Yes | Customers in Spain paying in EUR; pay now, in 30 days, in 3 or financing |
| Scalapay | Yes, early access | Customers in Spain paying in EUR; €5 to €4,999.99 per order |
| PayPal | Separate wallet | Connected alongside Shopify Payments |
Our take: if Bizum shows up in your Shopify Payments settings, turn it on. Your legal business name has to match your tax ID data, so sort that out during onboarding rather than the week before launch.
What legal pages does a Spanish online store need?
At minimum: an aviso legal, terms of sale, a privacy and cookie policy, and clear withdrawal and guarantee information.
- Aviso legal (LSSI, Ley 34/2002, art. 10): your name or company name, address, email, commercial registry details and NIF must be available permanently, directly and free of charge on the site.
- 14-day withdrawal right, with an online withdrawal function: since June 19, 2026, EU stores must offer a clearly visible electronic way to withdraw, with a confirmation step and an automatic acknowledgment by email. Shopify's self-serve returns and cancellation rules can help; we test the full flow before launch.
- Three-year legal guarantee: for goods bought from January 1, 2022, Spain's minimum legal guarantee is three years, longer than the EU's two-year floor. Goods whose digital elements are essential to how they work generally carry two years.
- Accessibility: the European Accessibility Act has applied since June 28, 2025. See our EAA guide for Shopify.
How do IVA, the Canary Islands and EU sales work?
Mainland Spain and the Balearics charge IVA at a 21% standard rate. The Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla sit outside the EU VAT area, so orders there are treated as exports, not domestic sales.
The Canary Islands apply their own tax, IGIC, and parcels need customs paperwork. If you ship there, we configure Shopify so Canary customers are not charged mainland IVA and your delivery promise reflects customs time. Many Spanish brands simply forget this market exists until the first angry email.
Selling from Spain to other EU countries? Once your cross-border B2C sales pass €10,000 a year, VAT is due at the customer's country rate, and the One Stop Shop (OSS) lets you declare it all in one quarterly return. Our Shopify Markets guide covers the setup.
Shipping and returns in Spain
Most Spanish stores combine Correos or Correos Express with a private carrier such as SEUR, MRW, GLS or CTT Express, plus pickup points and lockers for shoppers who are not home during the day. Show the delivery window on product pages, not only at checkout, and state who pays for returns in plain Spanish.
- Pick one carrier for the peninsula and one for the islands.
- Set shipping rates by zone in Shopify (peninsula, Balearics, Canaries).
- Write a returns page that matches your withdrawal flow and guarantee terms.
How we work with brands in Barcelona, Madrid and across Spain
The Silver Arc is a remote-first studio, and we also have a presence in Barcelona. Spanish brands get a studio that works in Spanish, Catalan and English. That is useful when your team writes product copy in Spanish and your investors want updates in English.
We work remotely, by email and Basecamp, whether you are in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia or Bilbao. The process is the same for everyone: a discovery call, a written proposal, a design questionnaire, a first design in under a week, up to three revision rounds, then development and launch. Everything is set up in your own Shopify, domain and app accounts, so you own the store from day one.

Frequently asked questions
Can a Shopify store in Spain accept Bizum?
Yes, Bizum is a local payment method in Shopify Payments, but it is in early access, so not every eligible store sees it yet. Customers must be in Spain, pay in EUR and use a participating bank, and orders must be between €0.50 and €5,000. It cannot be used for subscription products.
Do I need an aviso legal on my Shopify store?
Yes. Spain's LSSI (Ley 34/2002, article 10) requires online businesses to show their name, address, email, registry details and NIF permanently and free of charge. On Shopify this is usually a dedicated legal page linked from the footer.
How long is the legal guarantee for products sold online in Spain?
Three years for goods bought from January 1, 2022, which is longer than the EU minimum of two. Goods that depend on digital content to work generally have two years. Your returns and warranty pages should reflect this.
How do I sell to the Canary Islands from a Shopify store?
The Canary Islands are outside the EU VAT area, so mainland IVA should not be charged and parcels need customs paperwork, with IGIC due on import. We set up a separate shipping zone and tax configuration and pick a carrier that handles the customs step.
Do you only work with brands in Barcelona?
No. We're a remote-first studio and work by email and Basecamp with brands across Spain, including Madrid, Valencia and Seville, and with brands abroad. The process and the ownership model are the same wherever you are.
