Shopify for home supplies

Shopify stores for homeware and household brands

We design and build Shopify stores for homeware and household goods brands, from kitchenware and linens to cleaning products and refills people buy again and again.

Short answerShopify is a strong fit for homeware and household brands. Free first-party apps cover subscriptions for refills and bundles for multipacks, while variants, filters and unit pricing handle large ranges. The real work is raising order value and meeting labeling rules for cleaning products and kitchenware. The Silver Arc designs and builds these stores on Shopify.

What do homeware and household stores struggle with?

Low order values, repeat purchases that drift to supermarkets or Amazon, and wide ranges that are hard to browse. A dish brush or a refill pouch doesn't justify much shipping on its own.

So the store has to do three jobs: make it easy to buy more in one order, make it effortless to buy again, and help people find the right size, scent or color in a range of hundreds of SKUs. Brands selling cleaning products or kitchenware also carry labeling duties that affect the product page itself.

How do you increase order value on a homeware store?

With bundles, multipacks and free-shipping thresholds that make sense for your margins. Shopify's own Bundles app is free on all plans and handles both.

Shopify Bundles supports fixed bundles of up to 30 components and multipacks of a single product, sold through the Online Store, Shop and POS. A few things to plan for: orders show the individual component SKUs, shipping weight comes from the components, bundle prices don't update when a component price changes, and bundles don't appear under option filters in Search & Discovery.

Our take: "starter kit" and "room set" bundles work well for homeware because they solve a whole job, like setting up a kitchen or a bathroom, rather than just discounting.

Should household brands sell subscriptions?

Yes, for anything people run out of: cleaning concentrates, refills, filters, candles, laundry products. Subscriptions turn a one-off sale into a predictable reorder.

Shopify's Subscriptions app supports weekly, monthly or yearly deliveries, percentage or fixed discounts, and a customer portal where subscribers skip, pause, cancel or change their address. The design job is making the subscribe option clear on the product page without hiding the one-time price, and suggesting a sensible frequency so people don't end up with a cupboard full of refills. Note that subscriptions aren't supported on native B2B orders, so wholesale reorders work differently.

How should a homeware catalog be organized?

By room and by job, with filters underneath. People shop "kitchen" or "laundry" first, then narrow by material, size or color.

We set up product data in metafields so filters stay consistent: material, dimensions, dishwasher-safe, scent, refillable. The Search & Discovery app can filter on those fields, but filters don't display on collections with more than 5,000 products, so very large ranges need tighter collections. Unit pricing is worth turning on when you sell several pack sizes; it's a legal requirement in some regions, including the EU, and works automatically on Online Store 2.0 themes.

What labeling rules apply to household products sold online?

Mostly product safety, chemical labeling for cleaning products and food-contact rules for kitchenware. This is a checklist, not legal advice.

  • Cleaning products in the EU (CLP): online ads for hazardous mixtures already need hazard information. The revised CLP Regulation adds stricter rules, including showing full label elements before purchase on distance sales; those provisions were postponed to January 1, 2028.
  • Kitchenware in the EU: food contact materials must be labeled for food contact or with the appropriate symbol under Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004, and plastic items need a declaration of compliance under Regulation (EU) No 10/2011.
  • EU product safety (GPSR): online offers must show the manufacturer or EU responsible person, product identifiers and any safety warnings, in a language customers understand.
  • California Proposition 65: where a warning applies, show it on the product page, through a clearly marked warning link or before checkout is complete.

We build product templates with dedicated spaces for warnings, pictograms and documents, so your team adds the data once and it appears everywhere it should.

How we build home supplies stores

We start with your range and your repeat-purchase products, then plan navigation, bundles and subscriptions before designing a single page. After that we design in Figma, build the theme and set up product data so filters, unit prices and safety information stay consistent as you add SKUs. Frequently asked questions

Is Shopify Bundles free?

Yes. Shopify Bundles is a free first-party app on all plans. It creates fixed bundles of up to 30 components and multipacks, though bundle prices don't update automatically when a component's price changes.

Can I offer subscribe-and-save on refills?

Yes. Shopify's Subscriptions app supports recurring deliveries with percentage or fixed discounts, and subscribers can skip, pause or cancel in their customer account. Dedicated subscription apps add features such as build-a-box or advanced retention flows if you need them.

Do I need to show price per liter or kilogram?

In some regions, including the EU, unit prices are a legal requirement for many goods sold by volume or weight. Shopify's native unit pricing shows them on product, collection, cart and checkout pages, and it works automatically on Online Store 2.0 themes.

Can I sell cleaning products on Shopify?

Yes, but check carrier rules for hazardous items such as aerosols and certain concentrates, and the labeling rules in each market. In the EU, CLP already requires hazard information in online ads for hazardous mixtures, with stricter distance-selling rules due from January 1, 2028.

Can I sell homeware to retailers on the same store?

Yes. Native Shopify B2B, included on every plan from Basic up since April 2, 2026, gives retailers company accounts, trade catalogs, minimum quantities and payment terms alongside your retail store.
