Shopify studio for Barcelona
Shopify agency in Barcelona
We have a presence in Barcelona and design and build Shopify stores for Barcelona fashion, design and DTC brands, in Catalan, Spanish or English.
Why work with a Shopify studio that knows Barcelona?
Because a Barcelona store often needs two languages, a design bar set by the city's own brands, and an international audience from day one. A partner who already works in Catalan and Spanish saves you a translation layer and a lot of back-and-forth.
The Silver Arc is a remote-first studio with a presence in Barcelona. The work itself happens remotely, by email and Basecamp, the same way we run projects for brands in London or New York. That keeps every decision written down and every file in your own accounts.
Should a Barcelona Shopify store be in Catalan?
If you sell to customers in Catalonia, a Catalan version is worth serious thought, both as a trust signal and for legal reasons. Catalonia's consumer code (Llei 22/2010, article 128-1) gives consumers the right to be served in the official language they choose and to receive documents such as contracts and invoices in Catalan, and the language policy law (Llei 1/1998, article 32) sets similar rules for businesses serving the public.
How exactly these rules apply to an online store depends on your business and where you sell, so check with your legal adviser. On the Shopify side, here's what a Catalan storefront involves:
| Store element | What to plan for in Catalan |
|---|---|
| Languages and URLs | Basic, Grow and Advanced can sell in up to 20 languages, Plus in up to 30. Each language gets its own subfolder, such as /ca/. |
| Checkout | Shopify's pre-translated checkout covers 33 languages, and Catalan isn't one of them. Plan to translate and test checkout text yourself. |
| Email notifications | Order confirmations and shipping emails need Catalan versions; Shopify lets you edit and preview them per language. |
| Product and page content | Translate manually or start from Shopify's AI translations, then have a native speaker review. |
| Legal pages and invoices | Aviso legal, terms, returns and invoice templates in Catalan as well as Spanish. |
| SEO | Catalan titles, meta descriptions and URL handles, not copies of the Spanish ones. |
Our take: if most of your customers are in Catalonia, launch with Catalan and Spanish together. Adding a language later means revisiting every template, email and legal page anyway.
What does Barcelona's fashion and design scene mean for your store?
Barcelona brands compete on design. 080 Barcelona Fashion, the platform promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya and organized by the Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda, held its 37th edition from April 14 to 17, 2026, moving to Port Vell. Barcelona Design Week, organized by Barcelona Centre de Disseny, is the city's annual design festival.
For a Shopify store, that translates into a few priorities:
- Editorial product pages: room for lookbooks, materials, the maker and the story, without burying the add-to-cart button on mobile.
- Launch moments: pre-orders, waitlists and limited drops timed to shows and campaigns.
- A custom design, not a lightly edited theme demo. See our comparison of theme vs custom design.
- International selling: visitors who discover you in Barcelona buy later from home, so currencies, duties and languages matter. Our Shopify Markets guide covers the setup.
- Speed: image-heavy stores need careful handling of photos and video, covered in our speed guide.
What Spanish rules apply to Barcelona stores?
Everything that applies in the rest of Spain: Bizum and Klarna at checkout, IVA, an LSSI aviso legal, the EU withdrawal function and Spain's three-year legal guarantee. Our Shopify guide for Spain covers each in detail, so this page focuses on what's different in Barcelona.
How do you choose a Shopify agency in Barcelona?
Look for proof of design quality, real Catalan capability and a clear ownership model. Being nearby is pleasant, but it won't fix a weak process.
- Check design range. Ask for live stores in different styles. If every store looks like the same theme, yours will too.
- Test the languages. Ask who writes and reviews Catalan and Spanish copy, and how they handle checkout and email translations.
- Ask about the design process. How many revision rounds, in which tool, and when development starts.
- Confirm ownership. Store, domain, theme and app accounts in your name from the start, with collaborator access for the agency.
- Check the Shopify Partner Directory for their tier, services and reviews, which can only be left after real collaborator access.
- Ask what happens after launch: training, documentation and who fixes things in month two.
Red flags: a quote without a written scope, "we'll host it for you", no live URLs in the portfolio, or a Catalan version produced by machine translation with no review.
How we work with Barcelona brands
We work in Catalan, Spanish and English. Every project follows the same steps: a discovery call, a written proposal, a design questionnaire, a first design in under a week, up to three revision rounds, then development, launch and handover. We design in Figma and develop in-house, and we never host client stores; everything is set up in your own Shopify, domain and app accounts.
Shopify services for Barcelona brands
- Shopify store design: custom, design-led Figma work for fashion, design and lifestyle brands.
- Shopify development: theme builds, custom sections and multilingual setup.
- Shopify migration: moving from WooCommerce, PrestaShop or Wix.
- Shopify B2B: wholesale catalogs and payment terms for stockists.
- Shopify SEO and CRO: Catalan and Spanish SEO and conversion work.
- Simple non-Shopify web design, for example in Framer.

Frequently asked questions
Are you a Shopify agency in Barcelona?
We're a remote-first Shopify studio with a presence in Barcelona. Projects run remotely by email and Basecamp, with brands in Barcelona, across Spain and abroad, so the process and ownership model are the same for everyone.
Can a Shopify store be in Catalan?
Yes. You can publish Catalan as a store language with its own /ca/ URLs. Catalan isn't among the 33 languages with Shopify's pre-translated checkout, so checkout text and email notifications need to be translated and tested.
Is a Catalan version legally required for my online store?
Catalan consumer and language laws give consumers in Catalonia the right to be served in Catalan and to receive documents like invoices in Catalan. How that applies to your online store depends on your business, so confirm with your legal adviser.
Do you work in Catalan?
Yes. We work in Catalan, Spanish and English, so designs, copy reviews and project updates can happen in whichever language your team prefers.
Can we meet in person in Barcelona?
Our projects run remotely, by email and Basecamp, so every decision and file is documented. A discovery call at the start covers your goals before we send a written proposal.
