How to Migrate from Wix to Shopify Without Losing Data or SEO

Short answerTo migrate from Wix to Shopify, export your products and contacts as CSV files, import them with Shopify's Store Migration app or the native CSV importer, move orders with a third-party app, and rebuild pages and blog posts manually. Then create 301 redirects from Wix URLs like /product-page/ to Shopify's /products/ before connecting your domain.

Key takeaways

  • Products and customers export from Wix as CSV; Shopify's Store Migration app accepts the Wix product CSV without editing.
  • Wix can't export blog posts or reviews, so those need manual copying or a review app.
  • Historical orders need a third-party app such as Cart2Cart, LitExtension, EZ Importer or MigrationPro.
  • Wix URLs (/product-page/, /post/) change to Shopify's /products/ and /blogs/ paths, so set up 301 redirects before moving the domain.
  • Disconnect your domain from Wix before connecting it to Shopify to avoid SSL errors.

Can you move a Wix store to Shopify?

Yes. Shopify has an official Wix migration guide, and Wix lets you export products, contacts and orders as CSV files. The catch is content: Wix doesn't export blog posts or reviews, and nothing about your Wix design carries over.

So a Wix to Shopify migration is really two projects: a data import, which is quick, and a storefront rebuild, which is where most of the time goes.

Why do brands move from Wix to Shopify?

Usually because the store has outgrown a website builder. The most common reasons we hear are deeper inventory and variant handling, a larger app ecosystem, B2B and wholesale features, multi-market selling and a checkout built purely for commerce. Since April 2026, Shopify's Basic, Grow and Advanced plans also include native B2B features such as company profiles, up to three B2B catalogs and payment terms, per Shopify's announcement.

What transfers from Wix to Shopify?

Products, customers and order history transfer; blog posts, reviews and design don't. The table below summarizes what Shopify's guide and Wix's own documentation say.

DataCan you export it from Wix?How it gets into Shopify
Products and variantsYes, CSVStore Migration app or product CSV import
Customers (contacts)Yes, CSVCustomer CSV import with exact Shopify headings
OrdersYes, CSVThird-party app (Cart2Cart, LitExtension, EZ Importer, MigrationPro)
ReviewsNoRe-add manually through a review app
Blog postsNoCopy manually or use a migration service

Wix confirms in its help center that it's not currently possible to export blog posts to other platforms. If your blog drives traffic, budget time to move the posts that matter and redirect each one.

Should you use the Store Migration app or CSV import?

Start with Shopify's free Store Migration app if it's available to you; fall back to CSV when you need more control. The Store Migration app is built by Shopify and lists Wix as a supported source for product and customer data.

  • Store Migration app: you upload Wix's product CSV without editing it, and the app produces an import report. Shopify notes it's early access for certain stores, sets location-based prices to the product's highest price, and skips options on products with more than 3 options.
  • CSV import: you rename Wix columns to Shopify's product template, convert weight from kilograms to grams and remove unmapped columns. More work, but you control every field.
  • Third-party apps: needed for orders, and useful if you want everything moved in one pass.

Our take: for a catalog under a few hundred products, the app plus a careful manual review is usually enough. For larger catalogs with lots of variants, do a CSV or app test run with 20 products before importing everything.

How do you migrate from Wix to Shopify, step by step?

  1. Record your current URLs. Pull every indexed URL from Google Search Console and your Wix sitemap, plus top pages from analytics. This is the base of your redirect map.
  2. Start a Shopify store. During signup, say you're already selling and moving from Wix so the setup guide offers the migration app.
  3. Export products from Wix. In Wix, go to Catalog, Store products, Products and export to CSV.
  4. Import products. Use the Store Migration app or Products, Import in Shopify admin. Deselect publishing to all sales channels so products stay hidden until reviewed.
  5. Verify the catalog. Check price, weight, inventory, descriptions and variants, then organize products into collections.
  6. Export and import customers. Export contacts from Customers and Leads, Contacts, then match the file to Shopify's customer template using ISO country codes.
  7. Move orders. Export from Wix Orders and import with a third-party app. Turn off staff new-order notifications during the import.
  8. Rebuild content. Recreate pages, policies and priority blog posts in Shopify, and set up a review app.
  9. Set up operations. Theme, shipping, taxes, payments, staff accounts and test orders.
  10. Create redirects, then switch the domain. Disconnect the domain from Wix first, then connect it to Shopify.

How do Wix URLs map to Shopify URLs?

Almost none of your Wix URLs survive unchanged, so every important one needs a 301 redirect. Wix uses a /product-page/ prefix for store products and /post/ for blog posts by default, according to Wix's URL structure documentation.

Page typeWix defaultShopify
Product/product-page/linen-shirt/products/linen-shirt
Blog post/post/summer-lookbook/blogs/news/summer-lookbook
Static page/about/pages/about

In Shopify, create redirects under Content, Menus, View URL redirects, or import a CSV of old and new paths. Shopify's guide recommends setting them up before transferring the domain, then checking your highest-traffic URLs after launch. For the full list of checks, use our Shopify migration SEO checklist.

How long does a Wix to Shopify migration take?

For a small Wix store, the data move takes a day or two; the full project, including theme setup, content and testing, typically takes two to six weeks. Custom design, large blogs and order history add time.

  • Theme-based setup with a small catalog: often two to three weeks.
  • Custom design plus migration: depends mostly on design rounds and content volume. Our design-first timeline is in how long it takes to build a Shopify store.
  • Large blog or many products: add time for manual blog moves and redirect mapping.

What should you check after launch?

  • Test your 20 to 50 most-visited old URLs and confirm they land on the right Shopify page.
  • Submit sitemap.xml in Google Search Console and watch the Pages report for 404s.
  • Place a real order and confirm notification emails, taxes and shipping rates.
  • Keep your Wix site accessible but unpublished until you're confident nothing's missing, then cancel the Wix plan.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an automatic way to move Wix to Shopify?

Partly. Shopify's free Store Migration app imports Wix products and customers from the Wix CSV export, and third-party apps can move orders. Your design, pages and blog posts still have to be rebuilt on Shopify, because Wix doesn't export them.

Can I move my Wix blog to Shopify?

Not with an export file. Wix states that blog posts currently can't be exported to other platforms. You'll need to copy posts into Shopify's blog manually or use a migration service, then redirect each old /post/ URL to its new /blogs/ URL.

Will my Wix reviews transfer to Shopify?

No. Shopify's guide says reviews can't be exported or migrated from Wix. You can re-add important reviews through a Shopify review app, but keep them accurate and attributable to the original customers.

Can I keep my domain when I move from Wix to Shopify?

Yes. Disconnect the domain from Wix first, then connect or transfer it to Shopify. Shopify warns that skipping the disconnect step can cause SSL certificate errors. Set up URL redirects before you switch.

Do I need to cancel Wix before launching on Shopify?

No, and you shouldn't. Keep Wix active until your Shopify store is live, redirects are tested and you've confirmed nothing is missing. Cancel it once the domain is fully pointed at Shopify.
