Shopify Plus Pricing in 2026: What It Really Costs
Key takeaways
- List price is $2,300/mo on a 3-year term or $2,500/mo on a 1-year term (USD).
- Shopify doesn't publish the variable platform fee; it's quoted by sales and differs for B2B and D2C orders.
- US Shopify Payments rates on Plus start at 2.25% + 30¢ online; third-party gateways add 0.2%.
- Your main store plus 9 expansion stores are included; more stores cost $300/mo each or a revenue share.
- Development by a Shopify Plus Partner, themes and apps are extra, and often cost more than the subscription in year one.
How much is Shopify Plus per month?
Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 USD a month on a 3-year term, or $2,500 USD a month on a 1-year term. That's $27,600 or $30,000 a year in subscription fees before any payment processing, apps or development.
Plus pricing is also set in local currencies. Shopify's Help Center lists these monthly rates as of October 2026:
| Billing currency | 3-year term (per month) | 1-year term (per month) |
|---|---|---|
| USD (US and countries without a supported local currency) | $2,300 | $2,500 |
| EUR (EU and EEA) | €2,100 | €2,250 |
| GBP (UK) | £1,800 | £1,950 |
| CAD (Canada) | CA$3,400 | CA$3,650 |
| AUD (Australia) | A$3,700 | A$4,000 |
Shopify notes that pricing is subject to change, so confirm your rate with sales before signing.
Is a 3-year or 1-year Shopify Plus term better?
The 3-year term saves $200 a month in the US, or $2,400 a year, but commits you to about $82,800 in subscription fees over the term. The 1-year term costs more but keeps your options open.
Our take: choose the 1-year term for your first contract unless you're certain Plus is right for the long run. The savings on the 3-year term are real but small compared with the cost of being locked into a plan you don't fully use.
What is the Shopify Plus variable platform fee?
It's a fee based on revenue and business model that replaces the flat monthly fee for higher-volume or more complex businesses. Shopify doesn't publish the percentage or the threshold; you get it from the Plus sales team.
Shopify's Help Center adds one useful detail: the variable fee differs for B2B and D2C orders. Percentages and caps quoted online come from individual contracts, not from Shopify's documentation. Before you sign, get in writing:
- Which revenue counts toward the fee (for example, whether B2B, POS or marketplace orders are included).
- Any threshold, minimum or cap.
- How the fee is calculated and billed each month.
- What happens at renewal.
What are Shopify Plus transaction fees and card rates?
With Shopify Payments in the US, Plus rates start at 2.25% + 30¢ for standard online cards and 2.3% + 10¢ in person. If you use a third-party payment provider as your main gateway, Shopify charges 0.2% per transaction on top of that provider's fees.
| Fee (US, Shopify's published rates) | Advanced | Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | $299/mo billed yearly ($399 monthly) | $2,300/mo (3-year) or $2,500/mo (1-year) |
| Online card, standard | 2.5% + 30¢ | 2.25% + 30¢ |
| Online card, premium | 3.1% + 30¢ | 2.95% + 30¢ |
| In-person card | 2.4% + 10¢ | 2.3% + 10¢ |
| Third-party gateway fee | 0.6% | 0.2% |
| Staff accounts | 15 | Unlimited |
Card rates vary by country, and Shopify's Plus page says to contact sales for your rates. Other fees to know about: capturing a payment after the standard 7-day authorization window adds a 1.75% charge, and each store includes 1 TB of file storage, with more available on request at extra cost. How much do extra stores cost on Shopify Plus?
Your main store and 9 expansion stores are included in the platform fee. Additional stores cost $300 USD a month each, or a revenue share across all stores. Each brand needs its own Plus contract.
Expansion stores are useful for separate regional stores, a dedicated wholesale site or a staging store. Remember that each live expansion store needs its own theme license if you use a paid theme, and usually its own app subscriptions.
What does Shopify Plus really cost in the first year?
The subscription is only part of it. Shopify's own Plus pricing page says custom development requires a Shopify Plus Partner, budgeted separately, and that themes and third-party apps are extra. For many brands, the build costs more than a year of subscription.
| Cost line | What to expect | Who sets the price |
|---|---|---|
| Plus subscription | $27,600 to $30,000 a year (USD list), or a variable fee | Shopify |
| Payment processing | From 2.25% + 30¢ per online order (US) | Shopify / your provider |
| Design and build | Typical market range: low tens of thousands to well over $100,000, depending on scope | Your agency or Plus Partner |
| Migration | Shopify doesn't charge for it; partner and app costs depend on your current platform | Your agency, migration apps |
| Theme | Free, a one-time paid theme, or included in a custom design | Theme developer or agency |
| Apps | Monthly subscriptions; Plus replaces some, not all | App developers |
| Ongoing development | Retainer or hourly for changes, checkout extensions and integrations | Your agency |

How do you get an accurate Shopify Plus quote?
Go to Shopify sales with your numbers ready, and get every fee in writing before you sign.
- Gather 12 months of data: revenue split by D2C, B2B, POS and marketplaces, order count and average order value.
- List the Plus features you'll use in the first 6 to 12 months, and how many stores you need.
- Ask for both terms (1-year and 3-year) and whether the flat fee or a variable fee applies to you.
- Confirm your payment rates for your country and card mix.
- Get a build estimate from a partner in parallel, so you compare total cost, not just the subscription.
Do you need a Shopify Plus Partner?
Not to sign up, but Shopify recommends one for custom development. You can buy Plus directly from Shopify; the partner is who designs, builds and customizes the store, for example checkout extensions, B2B catalogs and integrations.
When comparing partners, ask whether they've built checkout UI extensions and Function-based customizations, how they set up B2B, and whether everything lives in your own accounts. Partner tiers in the Shopify Partner Directory help you shortlist, but references and a clear scope matter more.
Is Shopify Plus worth the price?
It's worth it when you need a specific Plus feature, such as full checkout customization, more than 3 B2B catalogs, company-specific pricing, expansion stores or more than 15 staff. Fee savings alone rarely cover the cost unless you process several million dollars a year.

Frequently asked questions
Can you pay for Shopify Plus monthly?
Plus is billed monthly, but on a 1-year or 3-year term. You commit to the full term; the 3-year term has the lower monthly rate ($2,300 vs $2,500 in the US).
Is there a free trial of Shopify Plus?
Not a free one. Shopify's pricing page currently shows a Try for $399 option for Plus that leads to signup, but the page doesn't spell out the trial terms, so confirm length, eligibility and what you pay afterward with Shopify. Partners can also build and test Plus features in Plus Partner sandbox stores.
Does Shopify Plus include apps?
Plus includes Shopify's own apps such as Flow and Launchpad, and Shopify says Plus can replace many automation and customization apps, but not all. Third-party apps are billed separately by their developers.
Can you negotiate Shopify Plus pricing?
The published fees are the starting point. Terms such as the variable platform fee, contract length and payment rates are set with Shopify's sales team, so get every number in writing and compare 1-year and 3-year options.
How much more is Shopify Plus than Advanced?
On US list prices, Plus on a 3-year term costs $27,600 a year versus $3,588 for Advanced billed yearly, about $24,000 more. Lower card rates and gateway fees offset part of that only at high sales volumes.
